Student Employment

Miami significantly values student workers and commits to employing students. Working on campus not only provides income but also cultivates responsibility, enhances time management skills, and offers a learning opportunity. There are student jobs available in dining halls, the campus store, library, Rec Center, etc.
Finding a job on campus requires a series of procedures (such as submitting your resume and cover letter), depending on the position. Check out the Student Employment website for more information.

Note: If you have a full graduate assistantship, you will not be eligible for any additional on-campus employment.

Recent Graduate Student Highlights

Louis Krieger
Louis Krieger from Dudelange, Luxembourg graduated from Miami in 2018 with an MS in Chemical Engineering. Louis says “Miami has allowed me to practice skills I would not have otherwise, such as speaking to a larger audience. I had always feared and felt extremely nervous presenting even for a class. Over my years at Miami, I forced myself to be in these situations because the opportunity was there. If I didn’t do well or made a fool of myself, I didn’t feel as bad because of the wonderful people that supported me there. Now as a researcher, this skill is highly valued because I feel comfortable presenting my subject in front of a variety of different audiences. My advice to incoming students is to do at least one thing that you do not think you can do, or that makes you a little uncomfortable because Miami is a space where you can try anything without being judged or have to fear of failing”. Louis is currently working towards his PhD in Computational Science, while being a researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology.
Tasneem Amatullah picture
Tasneem Amatullah, Ph.D
Tasneem Amatullah, Ph.D, from Chennai, India, graduated from Qatar University’s Educational Leadership Master’s program in 2014 and joined the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Miami University immediately after that. Four years later, Tasneem graduated with her Ph.D in 2018. She says, “It is impossible to measure the amount of support and care received during my time at Miami University. Each and every professor has shown immense interest in enhancing my learning experience. The best thing is that, being an international student, my voice was valued, and my peers were keen to learn my multicultural experiences. This four-year doctoral program was a life-changing journey that helped me develop as a social justice scholar.” One of Tasneem’s biggest accomplishments while at Miami was being awarded an honorable mention in the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award representing Miami University. Moving forward, Tasneem now serves as an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta in the Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education where she attained several internal research grants to expand her research on Narratives of Muslim Women Educational Leaders across the globe. Recently, Tasneem was named an award recipient for the TeachNY Implementation Fund: Teaching and Learning throughout the Clinical Practice Continuum for her project entitled: Teaching for equity as the goal of teacher education: Evaluating students' clinical experiences at SUNY Oneonta. We congratulate Tasneem on this accomplishment and wish her the very best in all her endeavors.
