Dear Colleagues,
The final weeks of a semester are always an extremely busy time for all of us. Thank you to those who were able to attend and participate in the Town Hall meeting on Monday, Dec. 4. If you weren’t able to attend, the recording is now available on the employee resource page of the operational sustainability web site. Slide decks synthesizing the data gathered by the rpk GROUP about the academic analysis and administrative review process are also available. You are encouraged to check the operational sustainability employee resource site regularly as additional data and resources will be posted when it is finalized. Included in this additional data is the faculty analysis. That data, along with a detailed data table, will be posted by the end of this week.
Following is a quick recap of the activities and progress we made in November.
Academic Analysis
  • Student enrollment data was analyzed by program to understand the number of students in each program, the number of degrees completed, and the rates of retention and graduation.
  • Data related to faculty full-time equivalencies, instructional activity, and number of majors per faculty member were prepared.
  • Net revenue by college and department was calculated in collaboration with methodology comparable to our current approach for calculating college and department financial statements.
Administrative Review
  • Administrative analyses included identification of personnel and financial trends by department as well as review of survey data.
  • rpk GROUP representatives met with staff from all administrative divisions to understand overall operations and identify areas needing additional support.
Team Meetings
  • The data team met weekly during November, except for the Thanksgiving holiday, reviewing the academic program data, faculty approach and data, and net revenue approach and data.
  • The steering team met twice in November, reviewing the academic program analysis, the faculty analysis, and the net revenue analysis. Additional meetings are scheduled for December 13, January 10, and January 24.
  • rpk GROUP also met with SEAC, faculty senate, and academic deans, providing project updates and responding to questions.
