On April Fool’s Day 1907, Clemson’s cadets took part in a legendary prank.Three hundred six cadets were expelled. Most of the dismissed cadets would eventually be readmitted to the college. They would be known as “Pendleton Guards” and among their ranks was George Lomax McCord of Abbeville.

Clemson University has appointed J. Cole Smith ’96 as its new Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, following approval from the Board of Trustees Compensation Committee. Smith will replace Robert H. (Bob) Jones, who served 11 years as the University’s provost.
