Message from the DirectorDuring April I travelled with my family to outback NSW to enjoy some time off. I encourage everyone to take time out and recharge when possible. During the month we have hosted a number of engagements including the US Army Research Office and Roche Global Pharma Partnering Team. Our Deputy Director for Academic Partnerships, Prof Wojtek Chrzanowski has initiated our membership in the Nanotechnology Industry Association, a cross-sectoral association for nanotechnology value chains and the global commercial eco-system. I am excited to announce a new Catalyst Nano-Economy-Society, led by Dr Maria Rumyantseva from the Faculty of Business, to look at these interdependencies and impact of nano technologies with industry and society. EoIs are currently open for Sydney Nano Secondary Scholarships to current PhD students who have a passion for outreach, under the guidance of our Deputy Director Outreach & Training, Assoc Prof Alice Motion EoI form here. I congratulate Prof James Der Derian awarded an $800,000 DFAT grant for his Quantum ethics project. And Prof Jun Huang awarded a $347,000 ARC Linkage Project to collaborate with Sunbio. We have held a number of very successful events, including a Distinguished Lecture by Prof Erez Levanon from our partner institute BINA, Israel, What makes a good DECRA candidate with Prof Elizabeth New and next week a Scientific Seminar with Dr Daniele Vigolo, I encourage your attendance at our carefully curated events.
