Team Insights: Quarterly Question

Why should you consider accelerated bridge construction to advance your infrastructure?

According to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, 36% percent of all US bridges need major repair work or should be replaced. Repair work on such a large number of bridges will take decades if work continues at the current pace of conventional bridge construction. The Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) method reduces construction and closure times and minimizes exposure of the traveling public and road workers to construction.
We spoke with Scott McKinney, Member and Project Executive in BELL’s Transportation Division, to learn more about BELL’s ABC experience and what clients should know about this construction method.

On May 31, we celebrated the monumental groundbreaking of Nashville's first Permanent Supportive Housing center. We are honored to serve as general contractor alongside architecture firm Moody Nolan for this life-changing center to help the city's unhoused population. The facility is proposed as a 5-story structure with approximately 90 units. Each resident floor offers views of the Cumberland River and includes a community room with laundry facilities and an outdoor balcony.

One step closer to “bridging the gap” for Southeastern Complex
BELL is the leading contractor for the bridge and entrance of Franklin’s proposed 180+ acre Southeastern Complex. We are adding two 12-foot turning lanes to allow traffic to access the complex directly from Carothers Road. Above the Harpeth River, we’re constructing a 548-foot steel girder bridge with a concrete deck and a 12-foot multi-use path for pedestrians to walk across the river to the complex.
