STONY BROOK MEDICINE

Update to Mask Guidelines

As of Monday, November 14, the indoor mask requirement was lifted within nonpatient-care areas only, including the Health Sciences and Basic Sciences Towers, as well as off-site locations that do not provide patient care (i.e., Flowerfield, Ronkonkoma, Tech Park locations that do not offer care to patients), allowing Stony Brook Medicine employees to not wear masks indoors within these areas if they choose. This change does not apply to all areas of the hospital and any other patient-care areas: masking is still required in these locations.

This means that all employees, patients, visitors, students and vendors must still wear well-fitting masks when physically present in all levels of the hospital, hospital lobby, the eating establishments within the hospital (hospital cafeteria and Starbucks) and/or any other patient-care settings, including all off-site clinic locations, regardless of Hospital Article 28 affiliation.

Even though the mask mandate is no longer in effect within nonpatient-care areas, we ask that you respect others who may decide to continue to wear masks in these areas.
