Congratulations to the DCHS students selected to participate in the 78th Annual All-State Music Festival! A concert will be presented to the public on Nov. 23rd at 7:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. All-State Choir: Audrey Doud, Zoe Ball, Isabelle Colon Alba, Hannah CoTran, Colin Heaston, Sarah Kinnison, Lewis Lentsch, JD Martin, Jesus Montelongo, Jacob Suresh, Mara Mead (alternate) and Grace Schuler (alternate). All-State Band: Grace Aerisolphal, Gregory Pease, James Pease (also selected for All-State Orchestra), and Evelyn Hass (alternate).  
Congratulations to the top-ranked girls swim & dive team on winning their regional meet and qualifying for state! The state meet will take place at the YMCA in Marshalltown beginning Friday with the swim prelims at 11 a.m. and dive finals at at 4:30 p.m. followed by swim finals at noon on Saturday. Good luck Maroons!

Bash on Buffalo Ambassadors
Planning for the Bash on Buffalo Auction 2025 is underway! The Bash will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025. There are a variety of committees to be a part of. If you are interested in getting involved, you can chair or co-chair a committee or just sign up to help! Learn more here. Grab your friends and contact Bonnie Bronson by Nov. 22nd. Proceeds from the Bash will support the DCHS STEM Endowment.
Thanksgiving Break Maroon Market Orders
If you are in need of food or personal hygiene items during Thanksgiving break, please fill out this order form by Wednesday, Nov. 20th to receive the items requested. We don't want anyone to go without during break, so please fill out the order form if needed! All orders are confidential!  
March for Life
The March for Life 2025 is coming up soon! Registration is due by Nov. 15, 2024. There are only 50 slots for this trip and more than half of the slots have already filled up. If you are interested in sending your student on the March for Life with Dowling Catholic High School, please send an email to tfernholz@dowlingcatholic.org or go to pulseforlife.org for more information

Nonpublic Transportation Reimbursement
Families who live more than three miles one-way from DCHS may be eligible for a nonpublic transportation reimbursement. Forms must be submitted each semester (by Dec. 1 & May 1). Eligible families will receive one check following the end of the school year. Instructions are available here.

COLLEGE AND CAREER PLANNING      
AP Testing
AP testing will take place the weeks of May 5-9 and May 12-16. There are two steps to register: 
1) Make sure your student has enrolled in a class section using the join code provided by their teacher. If students do not join their AP classroom, a test can't be ordered for them. 
2) Cost is $100 per AP exam. You can pay for your student's exam here.
The deadline to register is Nov. 14th. After Nov. 14th, you will be assessed a $40 late fee in addition to the $100 cost per exam (with the exception of AP Government and AP Microeconomics since they are spring semester courses). There is no refund if your student decides not to take the AP exam. Please be confident that your student will take the exam when paying the fee(s). 
Fall Courses With Notre Dame
The University of Notre Dame’s Pre-College Online Program is the perfect way for students to explore their interests. Courses span the fields of business, law and STEM, and feature dynamic video lessons that allow them to tune in anytime their schedule allows. Students will earn a Certificate of Completion upon completion. Explore courses here. 
Northwestern Pre-College Online Program
Northwestern has launched an exciting new program for motivated high school students that provides valuable insights and dynamic video lessons from subject-matter experts. The online courses feature interactive tools and a flexible structure that allows students to take multiple courses to discover a variety of academic areas of interest. They’ll be guided by mentors, and earn a Certificate of Completion. The first three courses begin this fall with more on the way, spanning subjects like business and medicine. Healthcare Events for High School Students
The Polk County Healthcare Workforce Collaborative is hosting a series of events for high school students interested in the field of healthcare. The remaining event this semester is the Worksite Tour at Broadlawns (Dec. 10). Visit healthcare.org for event details and to register.  
DMACC Career Discovery Events
High school students are invited to learn about a range of career pathways, tour local companies, and learn about career opportunities at DMACC’s Career Discovery Events! Register and learn more here. 
EVENTS  
DEC 5: Christmas Luncheon
Celebrate Christmas and the Dowling Catholic community with a wonderful lunch, special guest speakers and entertainment from student musicians and vocalists. A great way to start the season of Advent. The luncheon will be held at Glen Oaks Golf & Country Club. Doors open at 11:00 am, seating at 11:30 am. Please RSVP here by November 20th.
DEC 16: Wine Tasting
Enlighten your palate and experience an exclusive evening of specialty wines from Tuscany with world-renowned Italian sommelier, Claudia Callegari. The event will be held at Glen Oaks Country Club at 6:00 pm. Please RSVP here by December 1st.
