IT News for Students: Fall 2024 - Back to School edition

Welcome Seawolves!

The Division of Information (DoIT) provides assistance with connectivity, logging into SBU systems, troubleshooting your personal device, and more!

Each semester, we ask students what services should we include in our Back to School Newsletter...here are their recommendations!

Brightspace

Brightspace is Stony Brook's official learning management system, but not all courses use our learning management system. If you do not see a course in Brightspace, it does not mean that you are not registered: SOLAR is the official record of registration. Check with your instructor to see if they are using Brightspace.

DoIT's Brightspace team has compiled Brightspace Tips for Students, and you can find additional information at https://brightspace.stonybrook.edu.

In addition to contacting DoIT for Brightspace help, support is also available from the SUNY Online helpdesk: M-F: 7am - Midnight; Saturdays: 10am-6pm & Sundays: 10am-9pm EST. Their phone # is: 1-844-673-6786.

Laptop Loaner Program

Students can borrow laptops, laptop bags, and portable chargers (kettle bells) from the Melville Library SINC Site/Tech Station (1st floor of the Melville Library, entrance on the Academic Mall OR across from the Library Director's suite). Make your reservation online!
