Alumna Jennifer Al-Abboud ’86 was interviewed by the Tacoma Daily Index about the gelato shop she runs with her husband, Fareed. In the article, Al-Abboud talks about her long journey from falling in love with the Italian treat while studying abroad at Puget Sound to finally opening their own shop.
"Gelato is both a science and an art," she says.

Former Library Director Jane Carlin has published a new article in College & Research Libraries News about book arts as a teaching instrument. Titled "The Power of Artists' Books: Catalysts for Creative Thinking Across the Curriculum," the article focuses on how artists' books are used in teaching, in community engagement activities, and in exhibits. Carlin co-wrote the article with Sha Towers at Baylor University.

The Logger Men's and Women's Swim teams were both named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2024 semester. To qualify, teams must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The women's team finished the semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.35 and the men's team completed the semester with a 3.25.

A handful of gargoyle-like carvings adorn the residence hall buildings added to campus in the 1950s. Tacoma architect Silas E. Nelson designed the buildings in the Collegiate Gothic style, and at least two of the decorative carvings—the owls on Anderson-Langdon—were the work of stonecutter Lloyd Livernash of Walker Cut Stone Company, Wilkeson, Washington.
