What You Need to Know, When You Need to Know It
Pooled Testing Gets High Marks; Ramps Up
COVID-19 testing is helping ensure the health, safety and well-being of our entire campus community and surveillance testing is helping identify asymptomatic individuals to prevent disease spread.
Faculty, staff and non-resident students are continuing to receive individual emails providing details, instructions and schedules for mandatory saliva pooled COVID-19 testing. Feedback to date has been very positive and those tested have noted it’s been a quick, easy process.
For your convenience, we are pleased to share that additional testing sites have been added at the Southampton Campus and Health Science Center. Collection will take place in Southampton Mondays and Tuesdays, 8:30am-2pm, and the Health Science Center 3rd floor galleria Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am-2pm. There are also efforts being made to accommodate different evening and night shifts.
Similar, free-of-charge, pooled saliva testing will be also conducted for Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) employees beginning Monday, November 2. Collection will take place Mondays - Wednesdays, 7 am-4 pm in the Galleria, located on the 3rd floor of the Health Sciences Tower. Employees will receive an email notification with their scheduled week. No appointment is necessary, but employees must report to the testing on their assigned week. For more information, SBUH employees can refer to the Testing FAQs located on ThePulse (network connection required) or by contacting HR at 631-444-4700 or sbuhhr@stonybrookmedicine.edu.
Breaking News on Pre-Thanksgiving Break testing
A new SUNY system-wide policy seeks to ensure that all students test negative for COVID-19 before Thanksgiving break. The policy also strongly recommends that faculty and staff get a test during the same period. This should not be too difficult for our campus since testing is ongoing throughout the semester. Details to follow.
