Scrappy Wars: return of the spring semester
   REGISTER LIKE A JEDI   
Spring 2024 registration is now open for Honors College and graduate students! It opens Monday, Oct. 9, for seniors, and juniors can begin registering Monday, Oct. 16. Sophomore registration begins Monday, Oct. 23, and freshmen may register starting Monday, Oct. 30. 
Check out the Spring 2024 Calendar for key semester dates and the schedule of classes to plan ahead. Don’t forget to run an online degree audit or meet with an advisor to stay on track or graduate early. Secure the courses you need to master your spring semester. Visit spring.unt.edu for details!
While you're finalizing your spring schedule, don't forget to pick up a Winter Session course! Most Winter Session courses are online and no classes are held Dec. 25-29. Visit winter.unt.edu for more information. 
Front of Physics Building
   PHYSICS BUILDING PARTIAL CLOSURE   
Be aware that construction is underway in the Physics Building on the north end of the third floor. A new fire sprinkler system is being installed and the project will continue through July 2024. The following rooms are isolated for scheduled construction through Nov. 30: 
  • Classroom 311
  • Offices 302-306, 309, 311
  • Labs 308 and 312 
  • Janitor's closet 335
  • Women’s restroom 334 
  • Men’s restroom 333
The north stairway between the second and third floors is reserved for construction use only. The north stairway between the basement, first and second floors will remain open. The elevator also will remain accessible for use. Due to asbestos abatement activities taking place Oct. 11-25, no one will be allowed inside the construction zone during that time.

The We Mean Green Fund Committee is calling all eco-champions to join the mission to create a sustainable future. If you have an idea that could reduce UNT’s carbon footprint, promote biodiversity or enhance campus energy efficiency, we want to hear from you! This is your opportunity to access funding, resources and support to bring your eco-vision to life.
The project proposal deadline is Monday, Oct. 23. Explore the project criteria to learn more and access application details.

To keep in line with Texas Senate Bill 17, the university's Division of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access closed on Oct. 2. While the division's closure eliminated eight positions, every individual is still serving the campus community within other divisions and departments.
In his official notice, UNT President Neal Smatresk stated that, “UNT has long been a community committed to supporting our students’ success and academic achievement while providing affordable access to many populations. We remain steadfast in our commitment and service to all students and their success.”

Engage in activities like the Non-Trad & Grad BBQ, Professional Picture Day, a Housing Fair, Grab & Go snacks and more!

   STUDENT BOOK AWARD   
Speaking of nontraditional student support, Off-Campus Student Services opened the Non-Traditional and Graduate Student Book Award, which provides up to $300 through the UNT Barnes & Noble bookstore for textbook rentals and class-related supplies. Take a look at the eligibility requirements and application, which closes Friday, Oct. 20, for the Spring 2024 semester. Please email ocss@unt.edu with any questions.

Your voice matters! NorthVOTExas reminds you to register to vote by Tuesday, Oct. 10. UNT will have an election poll location at Gateway 52 for early voting and election day. Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 23. Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Women's soccer team celebrating
   GO MEAN GREEN   
After their 2-0 win against UTSA last Thursday, women’s soccer will take on Tulsa at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 5, at the Track and Soccer Complex. Get your free tickets to all home games and support Mean Green athletics. Remember to show your Mean Green Pride by wearing green on Fridays.
UNT football secured another win on Saturday! Check out this postgame video of the drone show that lit up the sky in celebration. The team travels to Annapolis, Maryland, to face Navy at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. You can catch the game on the CBS Sports Network to cheer them on. Go Mean Green!
