The Seton Hall College of Nursing Newsletter - Spring 2025 |
On June 15th, it will be two years since I became the Interim Dean at the College of Nursing. I am truly honored and blessed to continue to be a part of the amazing CON team which leads our undergraduate and graduate nursing students as they prepare to start or continue their professional careers. In response to the nationwide nursing shortage, the College remains committed to educating both future nurses and the next generation of nurse educators through our doctoral programs.
As you will read in this newsletter, our Spring 2025 semester had many exciting ceremonies, distinctions and accomplishments. In the undergraduate department, our graduates achieved a record first-time NCLEX pass rate of 97.49%. This is particularly exciting as this is with the updated Next Generation-style test which started in April 2023. The White Coat ceremony was held on the South Orange campus in February 2025 which is a beautiful way to mark the official entrance into the nursing degree for our BSN and ABSN students.
Our graduate programs were again nationally ranked by US News and World Report, landing in the Top 11 percent for online programs. Our graduate students and alumni are being recognized in many ways. This includes Kendra Pierre, a current Adult-Gerontology Acute Care nurse practitioner student who was honored with a 2024 Scholarship Award from the greater New York City Black Nurses Association (GNYCBNA) for her advocacy work and commitment to her community.
Our faculty continue to achieve national and international recognition, for which we are immensely proud. Grants submissions for the CON exceeded $2.3 million dollars with continued research and scholarship productivity across both departments. Multiple faculty were honored at the University’s Annual Faculty Excellence Awards including Dr. Joyce Maglione, CON Researcher of the Year; Dr. Susan Darby, Teacher of the Year; Dr. Moira Kendra, Excellence and Innovation in Teaching 21st Century Skills; Dr. Peg Huryk, Service-Learning Teacher of the Year and Dr. Lisa Linville, our Adjunct of the Year.
I would like to wish all of you a wonderful and blessed summer season. And we look forward to more exciting accomplishments at the CON for the next academic year. Keep in touch so we can celebrate your accomplishments with you, our True Blue Nurses!
