JOIN US TOMORROW AT 3 PM AS WE OPEN THE EMORY INTERFAITH CENTER
The program will include brief remarks from President Fenves, Dean McGonigle, and Emory OSRL chaplains and students as we celebrate the opening of this new center.
Appetizers and special drinks will be offered as well as fun activities, including:
- Explore a Jewish Learning Walking Text Study
- Partake in Islamic calligraphy and poetry
- Walk our new Christian labyrinth and make a clay finger-labyrinth
- Learn about our custom-made Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Sikh shrines
- Craft Hindu marigold garlands and color Buddhist mandalas
- Participate in an interfaith communal art project
- Receive an Interfaith Center tote bag
- Learn about Emory’s diverse spiritual communities and contemplative practices
- Try our Interfaith Center puzzle
- Enjoy music with live DJ

1. OSRL chaplains and religious life affiliates are available for pastoral care, which is a form of confidential care and counseling provided by spiritual leaders. OSRL offers pastoral care to all Emory students, faculty, and staff of all faiths and no faith, and we make no assumptions about a person's faith or practice. Pastoral care can be as simple as a listening ear for emotional support, or it can involve exploring beliefs, teachings, scriptures, and rituals. Join Emory Orthodox Christian Fellowship and come see the movie “Man of God” in the Interfaith Center Lounge and enjoy popcorn. “Man of God” tells the powerful story of Saint Nektarios of Aegina. A story of unjust hatred being overcome by preaching good will and embracing humility. Saint Nektarios has inspired thousands around the world and has become one of the greatest modern saints.

International Community Friday Lunch

International Community Friday Lunch (ICFL) is a long-standing collaboration between the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).
This gathering extends a warm welcome and builds community for international students and scholars over a free lunch. Attendees will also meet sponsors who will share helpful campus resources.

Join the Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) and the Voices of Inner Strength Gospel Choir (VOIS) for our annual Fall Concert.
VOIS offers a space for soul healing and reflection through worship music of many different Christian genres. VOIS has been active on Emory's campus for over 30 years, and is happy to continue to be a part of Christian life and history with the OSRL’s Music Director, Maury Allums.
Refreshments will be provided immediately after the concert. Parking is free on Saturdays at Emory's Oxford Road and Peavine parking lots.

Monday Mindfulness Meditation
Mondays 6-7 p.m., Emory Interfaith Center Meditation Room, 1707 N. Decatur Road
Facilitated by Emory Buddhist Chaplain Venerable Priya Rakkhit Sraman, the Mindfulness Circle is a space exclusively for Emory students to practice mindfulness as a group. Every Monday during the semester, we will engage in a mindfulness exercise followed by conversations around the practices of mindfulness. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Praise House Project
October 20-December 15, 2023, Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church Lawn
A public art installation and immersive digital experience honoring the African and African American traditions of the Praise House and Ring Shout. Praise Houses were small, usually wooden structures commonly used for worship by enslaved peoples across the American Southeast.
As an act of resistance, congregants would gather in circle to stomp or shout upon the wooden floors, performing what was known as the Ring Shout (a full body rhythmic movement). This act ultimately created a communal drum—secretly preserving their cultural identity and traditions. Learn more about related events here.

The Global Mission Fellows (GMF) program is an opportunity for young adults between the ages of 20 and 30 to serve for two years in faith-based justice work in the United States or abroad by engaging with local communities, connecting the church in mission, and growing in personal and social holiness. Poland Summer Study Abroad
If you’re interested in the joining TIJS’ Summer Study Abroad one-credit program in Poland, you may want to consider taking the complementary course, JS 271 “Memories of Jewish Eastern Europe.”
The trip is set for May and the prerequisite is either to take Prof. Goldstein’s spring 2023 course or do pre-readings in advance of the program.

Hands of Hope AmeriCorps
Hands of Hope AmeriCorps Members will serve infants and children up to age six who are at risk for abuse and neglect in Houston, TX, throughout a 12-month commitment, living in a private, gated community (at no cost) and receiving a living allowance.
