Thanksgiving in the Halls of IEA

As the holiday season begins, the students and staff at IEA kicked off the celebration with their very own Thanksgiving dinner. High school students in Mrs. Perry and Ms. Maciolek's classrooms were responsible for the shopping, cooking and baking. They put together a full menu including butternut squash soup, stuffing, vegetables, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, assorted pies and, of course, a turkey. The resulting feast was shared with friends throughout the building. No Thanksgiving would be complete without the attendees sharing what they were thankful for. Drew may have said it best when he shared, "I think we should be thankful for what we have. We should do things for other people, because it makes us feel great about ourselves. My family's company is the happiest thing in my life. We all have our families and friends to love and make us happy."
The students, staff and faculty all hope that you enjoyed a Thanksgiving with those you love and who make you happy!
Part of IEA's Past & Future:
Al Rosenfield

There are few who spread the word about IEA further or more often than Al Rosenfield. A true friend of IEA, Al became involved with the school back in 1971 as a member of the Knights of Pythias and Probus. After meeting Sister Helen, Al knew this was a cause he had to support, and he's been doing that ever since! Al knew that funds would be essential to the success of the school and he took his fundraising seriously. In 1974, during the gas crisis, Al ran from client to client and had his business donate the gas money to the school instead. Before moving to the new building, Al could be found taking students to the YMCA, YWCA or St. Thomas's Seminary for gym or swim lessons, or scheduling speakers to come talk to the students. Today, he may not be traveling with the students, be he can often be found among them in the halls introducing someone new to IEA. Al still fondly recalls students from those very first years. We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful ambassador!

STARS: IEA's Annual Evening of Celebration

On November 14, IEA hosted its annual STARS Gala. This evening of celebration, hosted by Scot Haney of WFSB, and Brad Davis of WDRC, attracted nearly 200 attendees.
Thanks to generous donors, a portion of the evening’s proceeds was directed specifically toward installing interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. These whiteboards are essential for providing multisensory interaction in the classroom.
The highlight of the evening was Brad Davis’ glowing tribute to recently retired founder, Sister Helen Dowd. Rosemary Rainville, of Tankworks Removal and Replacement, was on hand to present Sister Helen with the Friends of Brad Davis Passion, Inspiration and Hope Award. “She is a true inspiration,” said Brad. “We’ve known each other since 1971. The things she has accomplished, the lives she has touched, it is just incredible.” We couldn't agree more!
