Mod IV launched this week with a burst of energy and the excitement of commencement on the horizon. We are thrilled that Vanderbilt is moving forward with in-person Commencement activities for both the class of 2020 (May 1-2) and the class of 2021 (May 15-16). Spring is also a wonderful time to think about new ventures. Join us for the Vanderbilt Entrepreneurship Conference to celebrate alumni and student entrepreneurs and network with those interested in business creation and growth. The Black VU Launches First Episode
The Black VU is a visually recorded, thought-provoking, and in-depth discussion that offers multiple viewpoints on prevalent cultural conversation topics like career recruiting, cultural authenticity, and personal experience. The initiative is a series of unscripted discussions of diverse students and alumni from Vanderbilt Business. In Episode 1, panelists discuss their educational journeys, what education means to them and their families, how their undergraduate and high school experiences prepared them for graduate school, and much more. Dewey Daane’s Legacy to Continue With the Daane Forum
Since 1974, Professor J. Dewey Daane’s Seminar in Monetary and Fiscal Policy has connected Owen students to some of the most influential figures in the professional business community locally, nationally, and globally. Thanks to an endowed gift from a group of donors whose lives Daane impacted, his legacy will continue in perpetuity through the series now known as the Daane Forum. Read more.

John Hawkins Fireside Chat
Please join the Owen Forward Alumni Fireside Speaker Series for a chat on the private equity global ecosystem with John Hawkins, partner at The Sterling Group, on Tuesday, April 13, 1:30–2:30pm CT via Zoom. John graduated from Owen with his MBA in 1992, previously served on the Alumni Board, and established the Hawkins Scholarship in 2010. John joined Sterling in 1992 and has been involved in every aspect of Sterling’s business over his 25 years with the firm, including recruiting much of the current team, overseeing the firm’s transition from a fundless sponsor, and driving the firm to excellence in all areas of core competencies. Parting Shot: Kristen Cavallari Speaking Event
Last month, the Owen Women’s Business Association (WBA) hosted Kristin Cavallari in person and virtually for a talk show-style Q&A session. Cavallari is a 3-time New York Times best-selling author, has produced a hit reality TV show, and is the founder of the popular jewelry line Uncommon James. She shared her advice for women in business and also gifted each attendee with a pair of earrings from her "Girl Boss" jewelry line.
