🗨️ Congratulations to grad student Yan Sheng MSW ’27 who has been awarded the US Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Minority Fellowship for AY 2026–27. The fellowship supports full-time, master’s-level social work students in their final year of study at a CSWE-accredited institution who are committed to providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services.
🗨️ A two-day intensive workshop was held last weekend as part of Creativity + Innovation’s AI+ Initiative. Organized by IMB Assistant Professor Helena Rong and IMB Professor of Practice Gabrielle Chou, and led by community partners Nil Larom and Espoir Lumbu, “From Zero to Agent” was designed mainly for students without technical backgrounds and invited participants to move beyond using AI as a ready-made service. Students used Codex, GitHub, and Vercel to take an idea through prototyping, testing, revision, and publication. By Sunday afternoon, they had launched 18 live projects. The aim was to help students learn to build with AI, as opposed to being passive consumers of AI output.Â

On-campus nurse Jingjing Liu tries out a fire hose at this year’s annual fire drill, which featured interactive fire safety activities, including practicing with fire hydrants and extinguishers, a smoke escape simulation, breaking emergency glass, and watching a grease fire extinguishing demonstration. Along the way, participants learned practical skills for responding confidently in an emergency while picking up some fire safety-themed swag.

• Cheenapara Heritage Gallery Opens in Kolkata
Tansen Sen, director of the Center for Global Asia at NYU Shanghai, helped spearhead the newly opened Cheenapara Heritage Gallery in Kolkata, which traces more than 200 years of the city’s Chinese community through artifacts, photographs and archival materials, The Telegraph India, Condé Nast Traveller, The Hindu, Firstpost, and The Times of India reported.
