Welcome, Fall 2022 Cohort of International Students!

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is looking forward to welcoming you to our community and hopes that you are excited to begin your studies at Miami University!

Our office assists international students with transitioning to the U.S., maintaining legal status, and making the most of their academic experience. We also provide comprehensive and on-going practical, cultural and social programs and events for students. The ISSS team and the rest of Global Initiatives are located in MacMillan Hall. Staying Connected with Orientation Updates

Your MiamiOH.edu email is the official channel through which you will receive communications from the offices, faculty, and staff at Miami University. Please make sure you are checking your MiamiOH.edu email address regularly to receive important updates and information. 

All new international students must complete the orientation program, which is comprised of online modules via Canvas (Miami's Learning Management System) and in-person sessions on Miami's Oxford, Ohio campus.

You can expect to receive this newsletter regularly throughout the summer, which will provide updates and instructions on how to access required online modules, along with other useful information.

All new international students should plan to arrive on time to participate in the orientation program Friday, August 12 through Thursday, August 18 (check-in and welcome will begin the morning of August 12).

Classes begin on Monday, August 22. 

We understand that you have many questions about your arrival to campus. Please keep checking your inbox for emails from international@MiamiOH.edu that will help answer many of your questions as you begin your journey to Miami University. 

Airport Pickup on August 11

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) will offer discounted transportation for new incoming international students at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport on the morning of August 11.  

You and your bags will be transported to Miami's Oxford campus (expect a one-hour bus ride) and International Peer Orientation Leaders (iPOLs) will guide you through the campus arrival and move-in process.

Transportation Cost: $35/person

Please note that students can also register guests (friends and family), who will be helping them move to Oxford, but should NOT register other students as their guest(s).

International students can also reserve a discounted room ($129 + tax)  at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport for the night of August 10. 

Duo Two-Factor Authentication

In order to access Miami University resources, you will need to be enrolled in Duo, our two-factor authentication tool. When you first try to log in to a Miami resource (email, myMiami, BannerWeb, Canvas, etc.), you will be prompted to enroll in Duo. Then, whenever you log in to your Miami accounts after that, you will be asked to authenticate with Duo.

You should be able to set up Duo on mobile phones in most countries. Follow the instructions for setting up a smartphone with Duo. If you are a new student from China and have difficulty enrolling in Duo, you can request a temporary bypass of the Duo system until you arrive on campus.
