SGI Charity Chili Cookoff March 5
St. George Island will host its annual Charity Chili Cookoff and Auction March 5. Activities include a golf tournament, 5K Red Pepper Run, Chili Cook-off, Auction and the naming of Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce. All proceeds benefit the Island Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder Unit. Click here to learn more.

Apalachicola Center for History, Culture & Art  Features Folk Exhibit
The Apalachicola Center for
History, Culture and Art will host a private collection of folk art by noted artists including Charlie Lucas, Richard Burnside, James Harold Jennings and Reverend Benjamin Franklin "B.F" Perkins. The exhibit will run through April 2.  Click here for details
Authors In Apalach March 19
The Apalachicola Municipal Library will host the 2016 Authors in Apalach event on Saturday, March 19, at the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art. This year’s event theme is “Apalach in Fiction and in Fact” and will feature celebrated authors including Karen White, NYT bestselling author of classic Southern Fiction, with her forthcoming book “Flight Patterns” set in Apalachicola. Also featured is Michael Morris whose Southern Fiction has won a Christie Award as well as an award from the Southern Indie Booksellers. Hid novel “Man in the Blue Moon” is also set in Apalachicola. There will be over 20 authors, and we are happy to host an old favorite, Vivian Sherlock, former President of the Tallahassee Historical Society, and author of “The Fever Man” a longstanding biography of Dr. John Gorrie. 
The event will be from 10AM to 5PM, with authors signing and selling books, and forums on different topics throughout the day. Again this year there will be a forum on cooking and food writing with a new attendee Johnathon Barrett from Georgia. Click here for more information.
Apalachicola Artwalk April 2
Art in all forms will be woven in and around picturesque downtown Apalachicola on April 2 during the annual artwalk event where artists and musicians will be showing, selling, and demonstrating their talents from 11-6 pm.  The festivities continue into the evening with a wine tasting at 3:00 pm.  Afterwards area chefs will prepare dishes at their restaurants pared with special wines. Antique and Classic Boat & Car Show April 16
Apalachicola will host the 18th Annual Apalachicola Antique & Classic Boat & Car Show on Saturday, April 16, 2016.  Antique boats, examples of classic and traditional vessels, workboats, and fiberglass and aluminum classics will all be on display throughout the day.  Special highlights include home-built boats by skilled craftsmen, authentic oyster boats and workboats, antique outboard engines, plus antique automobiles and artist booths.  The Apalachicola Maritime Museum will host tours aboard the Heritage, a 58-foot wooden Herreshoff-designed ketch and have demonstrations of steam engines.  Click here for more information.

Camp Gordon Johnston Days
March 11-12

The 21st annual Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Days, will be held Friday, March 11 through Saturday, March 12. The annual event created to celebrate the historic wartime Carrabelle museum together with the service of veterans from WWII and beyond, Attendees will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with tours of WWII Army vehicles that have seen combat. The Camp Gordon Johnston WWII museum will be open both days from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. showing documentary films though-out the day. Entry fee is by donation and appreciated. Please allow at least 1 - 2 hours for a tour as there are extensive artifacts, photographs, displays, and films to see. Light refreshments will be provided with live music. The WWII Army camp engulfed over 275,000 acres and was a major U.S. Army Amphibious Training Base. 

Museum Work Exhibit
The Apalachicola Municipal Library and the Historic Apalachicola Foundation are hosting a traveling Smithsonian exhibit through March 12. The exhibit, entitled "The Way We Worked", explores how work became such a central element in American culture, by tracing the many changes that affected the workforce and the work environment over the past 150 years. The exhibit is on display at the Apalachicola Museum of Art located at 96 5th Street, Apalachicola. Click for details. 
Apalachicola School of Art Hosts Michele Byrne Class March 20-22
Artist Michele Byrne's workshop "Adding the Figure to your Landscapes" will be the subject of this  three day art workshop in Apalachicola March 20-22. 
This class will teach how to add the figure in a natural, fluid way and how to simplify the subject by breaking it down into basic shapes. Click here for details.
FSU Marine Lab Hosts Paleoindian Lecture March 10
The Florida State University (FSU) Coastal and Marine Laboratory will host a lecture on submerged Paleoindian sites in the region on March 10. The  lecture by Dr. Jessi Halligan will be held at the Turkey Point facility east of Carrabelle at 7 pm. Dr. Halligan will share her research conducted over the past several years and share lifestyle discovereis of Florida's early Paleoindians. 

Dixie Does Shakespeare
The Dixie Theatre will host The Southern Shakespeare Company's production "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)."on March 10 and 11. This zany comedy barrels through Shakespeare’s entire canon of 37 plays. It’s truly non-stop hilarity with a little culture thrown in on the side! Click here for details.

Lighthouse Climb March 23
The St. George Lighthouse will host a full moon climb March 23 from 7:30-9 pm. Climb to the top of the Cape St. George Light to watch the sunset and the rise of the full moon. The Sunset/Full Moon Climb includes light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the full moon.  Cost is $15.00 for the general public and $10.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Carrabelle Riverfront Festival April 22-23
Carrabelle will host the 26th Annual Carrabelle Riverfront Festival on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23.  This year's event will again feature an Antique Car Show. The festival will  be held on Marine Street along the riverfront and arts and crafts, seafood, pet parade, live music, maritime exhibits, a fishy fashion show, food booths, and a childrens' zone.
