NSF Awards $1mil for “The Cybertraining for Chemical Data Scientists” Project

The Cybertraining for Chemical Data Scientists (C2D) platform received a $1mil award from the National Science Foundation. It was developed by Principal Investigator (PI), Xiangliang Zhang, associate professor of computer science and engineering and Lucy Institute faculty affiliate, with Co-PIs Ying (Alison) Cheng, associate director of Education Initiatives for the Lucy Institute and professor of psychology, and Olaf Wiest, professor for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Lucy Institute faculty affiliate.
The platform is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration of psychologists, computer scientists and chemists and integrates adaptive learning with personalized recommendations to provide personalized instruction in the field of data chemistry.

The Trustworthy AI Lab for Education Summit (TALES) at Notre Dame rallies an international community of psychologists, computer scientists, learning scientists, ethicists, education researchers and practitioners, and industry leaders to decipher how to build and harness effective and trusted AI solutions for education.
Call For Proposals:
We are calling for two types of proposals, one for the poster session, and the other for research talks. Proposal submission information can be found at lucyinstitute.nd.edu/TALES. All presenters will need to participate in person.
The deadline for submission of a 300-word abstract is Wednesday, Nov 1.

The relationship between exposure to conflict violence during pregnancy and the risks of
miscarriage, stillbirth, and perinatal mortality has not been studied empirically using rigorous
methods and appropriate data. Giancarlo Buitrago presents his investigation of the association between reduced exposure to conflict violence during pregnancy and the risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes in Colombia.
