Beauty in the Making
The close of 2021 marked nearly one year since we embarked upon Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience. As we welcome 2022, we wanted to share with you a look at the tremendous strides we’ve made in this milestone project … and there’s much more to come. Enjoy this timelapse video that captures the preparation for, and the emerging footprint of, our new West Conservatory.
As Longwood Reimagined continues to take shape, we look forward to sharing more moments of beauty in the making with you.

Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Visiting our Gardens on January 17? Be sure to stop by our East Conservatory, where we’ll be distributing lanceleaf coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) seeds, a cheerful, easy-to-grow perennial wildflower native to North America. As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through service to our communities, we ask you to share the beauty in your community. Join us by planting these seeds in honor of all who put service above self, so that together we can help our global garden thrive.
Winter Interest, Discovered
A textured tapestry full of showy seedheads, snow-dusted conifers, colorful tree bark, and frosty flowers can all bring visual beauty and interest to the garden. Join Longwood Senior Horticulturist Amy Bloom online on January 25 at 12 pm as she shares how Longwood’s Hillside Garden incorporates texture, form, and color within a landscape that’s full of winter interest. Learn Amy’s favorites and how to grow them at home, and discover what you can see when you visit the Hillside Garden this winter.
Explore the Artform of Bonsai
Bonsai is an art form steeped in patience and contemplation, but it’s also a practice that provides tremendous satisfaction and joy. Join Longwood Horticulture Specialty Grower Kevin Bielicki online on February 17 at 12 pm as he shares the history of Longwood’s bonsai collection, from the first specimens to our current collection. Learn from Kevin as he shares tips for growing bonsai, his favorite plants to train, and what you can expect when growing bonsai at home.
