NEWS FROM THE NINTH WARD
SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: CHERRY TREE HOUSE MUSHROOMS
Ninth Ward resident Jeremy McAdams is passionate about fungus. He launched Cherry Tree House Mushrooms in 2009 and after a few years growing shitakes in his backyard expanded his operation to a full-fledged mushroom farm outside of the city. His is one of only a few mushroom producing operations in our area and he is commited to sustainable, low-impact production practices and partnerships with local businesses.

After producing 1500 pounds of mushrooms last year, Cherry Tree House Mushrooms completed a successful Kickstarter campaign this winter and will be constructing a new Shitake fruiting house on the farm. Jeremy and his team also take their role as mushroom proselytizers seriously- in addition to selling their goods at local co-ops and farmers markets and supplying restaurants, they teach classes on the art and science of mushroom propagation, sell mushroom growing kits for use at home, and even offer a mushroom CSA.
Check out Cherry Tree House Mushroom's offerings at Mill City Farmers Market, the Seward, Wedge, and Mississippi Market Co-ops and like them on Facebook.
