As a Protector User Group veteran with 17 years of IT and telecom experience, Donald Williams is a valued, respected member of the Equinox community and a perfect focus of the latest customer spotlight!
Employed at the same organization for his entire telecom career, Donald joined the fraud team four years ago and headed straight for the Protector User Group. He says, “Sharing knowledge is by far the best Protector User Group benefit. The event gives me a new perspective, which is SO beneficial now and especially when I was new to fraud four years ago. The real-world experience and networking contacts are priceless. I get REAL help from others in the same situation as I am!”
At work, Donald juggles multiple hats, encompassing many components within fraud management. For starters, he works with fraud cases, identifies fraud, spots fraud trends, runs reports daily, and collaborates with various teams across the enterprise. He also manages the fraud application, monitoring uptime, looking at its newest features, identifying and implementing process improvements, evaluating new fraud-fighting tools, and keeping his company revenue neutral when it comes to fraud. According to Donald, “Protector’s profiling is AMAZING! The system combines trends, Hot Lists, and our configuration preferences to produce relevant alerts that allow us to act quickly and really target fraud.”
As for his relationship with Equinox, Donald points out, “Their level of engagement is superior, unlike anything I’ve seen from any other vendor or company. The support team is personable and always there for me. In fact, I felt bad calling one day at 5AM, yet, I had an answer within minutes! Mitch and Ernest make me feel like I am their only customer, even though it’s not true. Equinox even helped my team identify an internal issue—they were on the phone, at meetings, walking through scenarios with us until we determined the internal issue.”
Born and raised in Macon, GA, Donald primarily resides in Midtown Atlanta now. Call before you drop by though, because Donald jet sets around the globe regularly and likely isn’t home. In fact, his colleagues joke that if he’s not at work, he’s on a jaunt. His travel adventures around the world keeps him grounded and increases his level of diversity. He’s visited Africa twice, The Caribbean, China multiple times, Ireland, Germany, Greece, Scotland, Amsterdam, the Middle East, lived in London for a year, and has covered most of the United States. He’s got quite the magnet collection (and over 20,000 pictures on his phone) to prove it! He’s also an avid reader who particularly loves Eckhart Tolle’s writings. He has two college degrees and is currently pursuing a 3rd in Cybersecurity.
