Hacks & ChopsThree essays by Puget Sound students appear in the most recent issue of The Journal, a publication of the Book Club of Washington. “Ascending the Shadows of my Past: A Collection of Female Led Fantasy Novels” by Sammy Schwindt ’23, “Books That Will Break Your Heart but Will Also Put It Back Together Again” by Sowmya Kannan ’23, and “Jewish Fantasy Books: Using Folklore to Contextualize Jewish Identity” by Kaya Heimowitz ’24 were the winners of the 2023 Collins Memorial Library Book Collecting Contest. The contest is held every two years in partnership with the Book Club of Washington and encourages students to read for enjoyment, develop personal libraries, and contribute to the preservation of collected works.
