TRUE MAROONS

We were blessed to have Bishop William Joensen celebrate Thanksgiving Mass with Dowling Catholic students, faculty and staff in November. A special thank you to Fr. John Frost '79 and other members of the class of 1979 who pooled their resources at their 40th class reunion to provide DCHS with a new ciboria and holy water bucket which were used for the first time during the Mass. We are grateful for this special gift and appreciate those members of the class who were able to join us.

The Christmas Baskets service project concluded on Dec. 6 with the Candlelighting prayer service, a long-standing tradition brought to DCHS by the BVM sisters of St. Joseph Academy. We were blessed to have Sr. Mira Mosle (pictured with Coach Ron Gray '73 and Paula Placensia '71), Sr. Nancy McCarthy, Sr. Carol Marie Baum and
Lori Ritz ’69 join us for the ceremony and delivery of the gifts. Thanks to the outstanding leadership of the senior class and the generosity of the DCHS community, our students were able to provide assistance to 90 local families.

ON CAMPUS

Thank you to alumnus Rick Lehman '65 who generously donated a handcrafted crucifix to DCHS which was blessed by Bishop William Joensen during Thanksgiving Mass. We are so grateful for this special gift.

Congratulations to Howard Kerr '53 who has been awarded with the University of Iowa’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. Kerr was a career naval officer, aide to the 38th president of the United States, and CEO of three corporations. He holds two master’s degrees and served for 21 years in the U.S. Navy during the Cold War and Vietnam eras. He has been honored with several awards during his career, including the Legion of Merit Medal in an Oval Office ceremony by President Ford. Read more about Kerr’s award and distinguished career.

DOWLING CATHOLIC ATHLETIC CLUB (DCAC)
Since 1941, DCAC members have been raising awareness, enthusiasm and funding for Maroons in extra-curricular activities. Membership provides admission to all home games and a Campus Store discount at specified levels. In addition, your support allows us to offer a wide variety of interscholastic and intramural sports, providing students with the opportunity to compete and grow at all levels. Memberships are available for purchase online. Thank you for your support!
