NATIONAL COMMEMORATION IN WASHINGTON
May 7, 8, 9, 2015

Thousands of Armenian Americans are expected to gather this week in Washington, DC, to participate in the national commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide under the presidency of the Catholicoi, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Holy See of the Great House of Cilicia.

The main events include an ecumenical prayer service on Thursday, May 7, at the National Cathedral at 7 pm; a concert of Armenian music at the Music Center at Strathmore, Bethesda, Maryland, on Friday, May 8, at 8 pm; a Pontifical Divine Liturgy on Saturday, May 9, at the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC, at 10 am; and awards banquet on Saturday evening, May 9 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.

The National Centennial Committee has announced that two major religious services taking place as part of the national commemoration will be streamed live online.

CATHOLICOS ARAM I WILL OPEN SENATE ON MAY 7
His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Holy See of the Great House of Cilicia, will offer the Morning Prayer in the United States Senate on Thursday, May 7, at 9:30 am.

2015 PONTIFICAL VISIT WILL FEATURE
TWO GATHERINGS OF YOUNG ADULTS
The 2015 pontifical visit of His Holiness Aram I, that begins next Sunday, May 10, features two special gatherings of young adults to meet His Holiness and engage in a dialogue with the Catholicos.

The first such gathering will take place on Saturday, May 16, at St. Illuminator’s Cathedral, 221 East 27th Street, New York City, from 3 to 5 pm. An informal reception will conclude the gathering.

The second will take place at The Westin Hotel, 70 Third Avenue, Waltham, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 30, from 10 am to 12 noon, with breakfast at 9 am.

Speakers will explore the themes of Faithfulness, the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, and the canonization of the Martyrs.

Young adults are encouraged to attend and hear the thoughts of His Holiness and others and engage in a moderated discussion with the Catholicos.
