Dear Colleagues:
Our Employee Engagement Survey closed on March 1. I am grateful to all of our colleagues who responded to the survey. Our overall participation rate was 68%, which is consistent with the participation rate for higher education institutions.
According to Gallup, which administered the survey, employees can become engaged when their basic needs are met, when they have a chance to contribute, when they have a sense of belonging, and when they have opportunities to learn and grow.
A lot of this positive engagement occurs in the relationship that each employee has with a supervisor. Therefore, the results of the survey will be communicated to you by the supervisor in your area.
Each division is developing its own communication strategy based on the size of the division and the nature of the work. You should have a meeting related to the survey in the next few months.
In the meantime, all of our supervisors will receive training and resources to help them learn how to share the results constructively and to facilitate conversations that will lead to action plans that foster greater engagement and fulfillment.
Our goal is to continue to create an environment where you and all of your colleagues want to work and where you feel valued. And it is my hope that, by doing so, we will enable you and your colleagues to have fulfilling careers and to lead meaningful lives.
I am grateful for your service and your engagement.
