What's up, humans? Ryan Wen here for another week of snide commentary on Texas heat. |
As Bobby Hill so elegantly once said, "This flower is wilting."
I know, I know, complaining about how hot it is in July is like complaining that there's water in the ocean. But all this heat is reminding me of what I call The Austin Summer Paradox: the hotter it gets, the more irresistible it is to go out.Â
Not everyone has the ATX constitution, and consequently less touring bands come around this time of year. But, that's exactly why Austin summers are absolutely boiling over with amazing local shows — and there's one tonight that has the potential to be the best show of the year.Â
Our Artist of the Month, Quentin, is celebrating the release of their debut album, TOMGIRL tonight! What's even better, it's a benefit for a pillar of our local music community, the SIMS Foundation.Â
Stay hydrated,Â

AFS Cinema brings people together to enjoy films, share stories, and discover new perspectives. More than 84,000 tickets are sold each year to audiences to experience art from around the world and around the corner, rediscover classics, and hear filmmakers discuss their craft.
A hub for Austin’s creative community, AFS Cinema is growing and needs your support to build a third theater. This expansion will allow us to increase screenings and showtimes while creating even more opportunities for audiences, filmmakers, and film lovers to connect. Donors receive unique perks including t-shirts, memberships, commemorative film strips, and more!
