Tree Giveaway for the Memorial Tree Grove at Old Settler's Park!
Do you know some one who would like to honor their loved one with a memorial tree, but can't afford it?  Thanks to a generous sponsor, we're pleased to announce that we will be able to give away TWO trees this year!
Here's how to enter:
Click here for the blog post, and LEAVE A COMMENT on that post telling us how a tree would help you remember your loved one,
Like us on Facebook, and leave a comment, or post to our timeline, or
Tweet us @ChristiCenter, telling us in 140 characters what a tree would mean to you.
We will hold a RANDOM drawing of all entries left by noon on Thursday, August 14th and notify the two winners.
Winners must confirm the name of their loved ones as it should appear on the Memorial Tree Grove marker by 5pm on Friday, August 15th, or the prize will be forfeited and we will draw another winner.
The Tree Grove Dedication will be held on October 25th.
Community Poll on Grief and Bereavement
Launch of the Community Poll on Grief and Bereavement
Last week, The Christi Center launched a Community Survey on Grief --to find out what our community's loss experience is like, and where they seek support. The information we collect will help us develop our programs, so we can reach and support more Central Texans. We're trying to reach a broad cross-section of people, whether they've had a loss, or come to The Christi Center, or not.
Can you share this poll with your friends and family today? Here is the link: http://christicenter.org/survey-home/
Reading List: Friendship
Catch up with Christi Center volunteers this month. First, Westlake Picayune reporter Katie Ubaszewski wrote a piece about the Camino di Santiago trek that Christi Center members Danni, Kate and Elda did earlier this summer. Also, we had a blog post from Susan R. about losing both of her best friends in the year after the death of her husband. And Marianne shared her update on the eighth year of grieving Dylan's death, and the "Village" that helped her get through it.
September's 2nd Stage/ 2nd Monday
September's 2nd Stage Monday will be on Sept 8th, and will be a potluck dinner. Bring a dish to enjoy with friends old and new - and meet our new interns and Healing Heart Ambassadors!
Support Our Mission
We have some pressing needs and  volunteer opportunities coming up:
Help with check-in - Help members get signed in  for groups at our Monday meetings on August 18th and 25th.
Be a Kids Who Kare Hero- By providing dinner for our Kids Who Kare families on the 4th Wednesday of the month, you help them by making sure dinner is one less thing they have to worry about when they come to group.  Full tummies help with healing!
Outreach- It's community fair season, and we're already receiving requests to staff a table at a variety of events. If you love to talk about The Christi Center, and are ever available during the weekday--this one is for you.
Graphic Artist - We have several small projects on our plate--can you help with one or more?
Event planner - Do you have experience with planning large-scale events? We need help developing a timeline.
