SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
Our 80th anniversary celebration is just around the corner! Parents, parishioners, alumni, and friends are invited to join us next Tuesday, September 26, for Mass at 9:00 with Fr. James Mallett, our former pastor. Following Mass, adult guests are invited to a brunch reception in the parish hall. Tours will be offered to guests who would like a peek at the learning environment on a school day. All are welcome!
Next Wednesday, Sept. 27, our final pep rally will take place at 2:30. The theme is a blackout pep rally with glow in the dark effects provided by the cheerleaders. All students and staff may wear black that day. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal

GIRL SCOUT TROOP #449: Click here for an amazing story of what they were able to accomplish with your help last year! Good job, girls!
CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS FROM COACH MARTY HEFLIN: A sultry Indian summer greeted the Running Raiders as noon approached this past Sunday on the Dominican Campus. They had been blessed by a relatively cool late summer/early autumn training season, but Mother Nature decided to test their mettle with heat north of 85 degrees and close to 90 percent humidity. Undeterred and emboldened by their motto of "Courage, Commitment, Character!" they proved to be more than the test in their first outing as the 2017 CKS Cross Country Team.
The first race is always a bit of a box of chocolates - you never know what you are going to get - but it turns out that this box is pretty special. Despite the tough conditions, eight of our runners earned "FITT Awards" (Finished in the Top Ten). They are: Ryan Anderson (K) - 6th place; Lila Thigpen (2nd) - 3rd place; Carson Dunn (1st) - 8th place; Eleonore Ness (3rd) - 5th place; Gabe Guillamondegui (PREP) - 9th place; Ryan Jones (5th) - 1st place; Sean Meffe (6th) - 4th place; Isabella Guillamondegui (PREP) - 4th place; Ellie Bryan (8th) - 5th place; Aidan Nix (8th) - 4th place.
An impressive showing! They will be training hard over the next two weeks in preparation for their next meet on October 1st. If you want to check out Coach Heflin's blog for some inspiration, click here.
