It's been a cold, wet, and snowy February so far. We hope everyone is staying warm and safe! Spring is on the horizon, and with it we hope much more normalcy in the coming months. Upcoming Events


The LEAD Office and Graduate Student Life are pleased to announce the first ever Graduate Student Leadership Series program specifically designed for graduate students.
The program is designed to provide professional leadershiptraining and development experiences. Students will have a chance to participate in interactive and engaging workshop experiences focused around Strengths Based Leadership, Goal Setting and Vision Development, Leadership and Ethics, and Positive Conflict Management. The series will feature four virtual synchronous workshops throughout the months of February and March. Students who participate in at least three of the workshops will receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge through Mason360.

University Libraries is excited to make two special announcements. First, there is now a new one-year agreement with Elsevier's flagship academic journal bundle. Second, there are three new media streaming products available for all Mason community members: Academic Video Online (AVON), Sage Video Collections, and Docuseek2. Find out more here!

Hiring for a Graduate Assistant!

The Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning is seeking a Mason graduate student to assist our office with program support and development. Join a community dedicated to improving faculty support and engaged learning at Mason. For full consideration, candidates should submit a resume, a cover letter highlighting experience that meets the Checklist of Requirements, and a list of at least two references with contact information. Additional writing/report samples will be requested at the interview stage. Review of applications will begin on February 4; applications will be accepted until the position is filled. New Patriot Learning Pods

Patriot Learning Pods is a new program that is offering child care for faculty, staff, and grad students who are parents of school-age children who need a place to participate in online learning while the parents have to work on campus.   • The Commonwealth of Virginia is hiring a cohort of Fellows for the Virginia Management Fellows (VMF) program, a leadership and management training program of the Commonwealth of Virginia. 10-12 Fellows per cohort, educational and hands-on learning seminars, leadership certificate, 8-month rotations in three state agencies with manager-level agency mentors. Lead and direct service-learning initiatives. Upon successful completion, Fellows are invited to apply to state positions. Deadline Feb 24th. Apply here!
  • The Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS) at the University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to participate in the Research for Intelligence & Security Challenges (RISC) Initiative and internship program. This exciting 10-week paid summer program will pair students with mentors from UMD campus and the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community (IC) community, and offer the potential opportunity to be considered for future employment with the US government, to include possible sponsorship for a security clearance.
