Several of the high school English faculty members have been invited to present at November’s annual National Council of English Teachers conference. This year's conference, in Boston, Massachusetts, will focus on the theme: “Heart, Hope, Humanity.” At the conference, the faculty members will make two presentations focused on student engagement and rethinking learning models for the changing technological landscape.
Dr. Candence Robillard, Ms. Tamara Empson, and Mr. Matthew LaVergne will present on how they incorporate student research into their writing models. Each teacher uniquely guides students through the tried and true research process with an eye toward showing them the practical purposes outside of the classroom.
Ms. Anne McConnell and Ms. Tamara Empson will present on techniques and methods which shift the emphasis of writing in their classrooms from product to process/ revision: a shift that has proven to be necessary in English instruction at this moment of artificial intelligence app availability.
