Student survey of AI use reveals high confidence, yet deep anxiety over academic integrity |
A recent survey from Learning Technology Solutions of 648 UIC students found that while 95% feel confident using AI, 62% (401 students) worry about being unfairly accused of cheating. The results show that while you are quickly integrating AI into your routines, only 51% of you have received formal guidance from instructors on how to use it responsibly. This "instruction gap" highlights the need for clearer policies to reduce student anxiety and foster a more transparent learning environment. Google AI for Education Accelerator coming to UIC this fall |
UIC is launching an initiative to provide students with powerful resources to enhance academic performance and prepare for a technology-driven workforce. Starting this fall, students will have access to Google AI for 12 months at no cost. This will include advanced Gemini models for complex problem-solving and an enhanced version of NotebookLM, which allows you to turn your lecture slides and PDFs into a personalized, searchable knowledge base. When you log into Canvas, you’re usually thinking about what’s due or what you missed, not about where to find support. However, knowing where to look matters when things get unclear. Most instructors include a Student Resources or Need Help? section in their modules or homepages. Canvas won’t replace UIC’s support centers, but it is designed to help you get to them faster.
