Phyllis Wheatley Center Hosts National Youth Violence Prevention Week

YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center staff and students have been working together to create daily engagement opportunities in recognition of National Youth Violence Prevention Week (NYVPW), April 12-16. NYVPW provides an opportunity for youth to lead communities in creating effective strategies to prevent youth violence. Each day corresponds with a specific challenge for the community. For more information on each event click HERE.

Honoring Community Partners During National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW)

Every April, the Office for Victims of Crime leads communities throughout the country in their annual observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW). This year marks the 40th anniversary of NCVRW, which takes place April 18-24, 2021. YWCA  will observe the week as a time to renew our commitment to serving victims of domestic violence and to honor the following community partners that have gone above and beyond in their service to YWCA and others:
Join us via YWCA's Facebook Live on Tuesday, April 20 at 8:30 AM, as we honor community partners in Anderson County for their commitment to serving all crime victims.

Nominations Now Open!

We invite you to nominate your friend, colleague, or mentor for the 36th Annual Tribute to Women awards. Nominations are open to women in all fields and industries who have made significant contributions in elevating YWCA's mission to eliminate racism and empower women.
New in 2021: For the 36th annual Tribute to Women event, YWCA is changing the format of the event from years past. This year's seven Honorees will be chosen by the judges and announced prior to the event on September 9, 2021.
The categories to nominate an outstanding woman in are listed below:

  • Emerging Leader (under 35)

Highlighting National Arab American Heritage Month

Did you know that there are approximately 3.7 million Arab Americans in the United States? Or that Arabic is one of the fastest growing languages in the United States?
YWCA offers domestic violence services in a variety of languages, including Arabic. Our advocates are equipped to serve numerous cultures and are dedicated to eliminating any barriers, including language, for victims and survivors of domestic violence.
