Impactful, powerful, regenerative....a few words to describe this year's Annual TIPQC Meeting! The two days were action packed with over 550 attendees, 82 different speakers and presentations, over 1200 power point slides, three new projects kicking off, state data highlights, workshops on the current projects including lactation workforce development, IVH, PVD, a newborn nursery workshop, and a TDH Maternal Listening Session. The TN Milk Bank and the TN Breastfeeding Coalition also held meetings in conjunction with the Annual Meeting.

Kicking off the meeting, Commissioner Alvarado shared the latest TN Data on maternal mortality, infant mortality, and the state's recommendations. Kristy Christopher-Holloway reminded us of the importance of self-nurturance. Dr. Victor Wu and Deputy Commissioner Amosun updated attendees on TennCare and TDH priorities and work.

Our Patient and Family Partners and Community Resource Council were integrated into the important improvement work. Bekah Bischoff, BS from MoMMA's Voices spoke as well as met with our patient family partners over lunch. Each workshop was able to also hear from the patient or family lived experience.

The Tiniest Babies bundle continues to show improvements and had national expert Jonathan Klein, MD share his expertise. The panel discussing the alarming rates, recognition and treatment in both maternal and congenital syphilis consisted of Dr. Walter Dehority, Dr. Soha Patel, and Steffany Cavallo, MPH. Julie Ware, MD, MPH, FAAP, FABM, IBCLC shared the latest research linking infant mortality and breastfeeding.

Karen Florio, DO shared around cardiac issues in pregnancy and Ann Borders, MD, MSc, MPH shared the work of the Illinois PQC. Dr. Arun Gupta and Dr. Karen Schetzina led the Newborn Nursery workshop. Dr. John Buchheit discussed the East Tennessee Children's Improvement work on IVH. Two other teams, UTMCK and Baptist Memorial also shared as highest improvement teams in this category. For the PVD teams, Newport and Vanderbilt Tullahoma shared their impressive improvement work.

Future QI project suggestions included for the Maternal arm were: Mental Health, Sepsis, Post Partum Discharge, & Substance Use Disorder; and for Infant Projects: Substance exposure, Newborn Screening, Safe Sleep, and Breastfeeding within 1 hour.
