Dear members,
With the fall season wrapping up as one for the history books, I would like to revisit a few positive highlights that reveal a semblance of normalcy during this unusual time for us all. To name a few:
- As one of the only states not allowed to play full matches yet, many California teams attended out of state tournaments. Even without being able to fully prepare and without any games under our belts, our teams that competed out of state performed well. In many cases finishing on top of their brackets and in a few cases bringing championship and runners-up trophies home to us.
- On “Signing-Day” this month we had players sign letters of intent to play in college with several others still making decisions before committing to schools. Our College Adviser, Danny Cruz, will continue to update us as more players commit.
- Through our Community Outreach Program we successfully launched our first annual Juggles for Dimes fundraiser, which raised funds for our financial aid program. I need to thank Jeff Gebo especially for his vision and leadership for the launch of this great event. I would also like to thank Lisa Davis and her fleet of volunteers!
- Under the leadership of our Community Outreach Director, Joelle Conway, we partnered with Hands 4 Hope to collect warm clothing for those in need. We will continue to support this wonderful organization in future activities.
- As we continue to look for additional programs to bring to our members, we are in the process of rolling out winter and summer Futsal training programs and our club has been accepted into the United Futsal Champions Cup Series as a member of the Western Region Division.
- We continue to provide “socially distanced” technical skills training to over 150 players a week at “The Hub” Training Center. Coaches Paul Moen, Nick Potts and Merritt Black are doing a great job preparing our young players for a higher level of play.
Lastly, our biggest success so far has come from the efforts of so many of you, our coaching staff, volunteer managers and treasurers and board members. Collectively, you have kept our children on the field doing one of the things they love most. The challenges have been immense and we are deeply appreciative of everyone’s efforts to keep us moving forward.
As we head into winter and spring seasons, we thank the Elite teams that are finishing up for now. For the teams continuing on, let’s keep working hard while staying safe and hope for a speedy return to play.
Thank you again for your support and have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving!
