Faculty Recruitment Action Plan (FRAP) Updates

We have updated the FRAP. Departments opening a new faculty search are required to complete the Faculty Recruitment Action Plan (FRAP) form. The completed FRAP should be uploaded in Interfolio at the time the hiring manager opens a new position in the Faculty Search module. A FRAP is required for all faculty searches, excluding adjuncts.

Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP)

Benefits Language

The "Benefits" section of the Visiting Assistant Professor appointment letter template has been updated to more acuately describe the leave these faculty are entitled to. To gain access to the approved appointment letter templates, please contact the Office of Academic Affairs.

Previous Language: "Visiting Professors, though, are not entitled to the leaves of absence with pay discussed in Part IV of the Faculty Handbook."

New Language: "All full-time faculty are eligible for a 6 week leave with pay, but Visiting Professors are not eligible to have an entire semester without teaching duties. Please refer to Part IV and Chapter 9 in the Faculty Handbook (https://provost.tulane.edu/academic-affairs/policies/faculty-handbook)."

EDI Inventory Still Open

The EDI Inventory is still open! We have received over 300 entries from across the university and we are working with individual schools and units to make sure we capture all the EDI initiatives being implemented.

What do we mean by an EDI Program or Initiative? For the purposes of this Inventory, "EDI programs and initiativves" refers to any formal effors that support minoritized Tulane students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members and other stakeholders based on race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, first-generation college/graduate/professional student, veteran status, age (youth or other adults), international status, and/or any other minoritized group. Note that EDI-related academic courses and research are to be excluded from this inventory, but we are including any EDI-related professional development and training.

Deadline for submitting initatives is Friday, May 14th.

Submit an Initiative

Participate in EDI Focus Groups in May and June

Please keep a look out for information on EDI focus groups that will occur in May and June as we seek to understand the EDI experiences of students, staff, and faculty. These focus groups, along with the EDI Inventory, are kicking off a 6-month data gathering and planning process called the Strategy for Tommorow wich will chart the course for our EDI work from 2022-2027.

Last summer, President Mike Fitts called a "Plan for Now" to address racial equity and EDI at Tulane, and charged the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion with building the Strategy for Tomorrow. Your help encouraging the participation of staff, faculty, and students in your unit will help ensure their voice is heard in shaping our university-wide EDI Plan. Thank you!

Reminders

Faculty Appointment Details (FAD) Form

Departments hiring new faculty are required to complete the FAD and upload it to HCM at the time a hiring manager wants to "Create an Offer" in the system. FADs are required for all faculty hires, including adjuncts, and staff who teach as adjuncts.
