Zero Fare for Better Air

Zero Fare for Better Air

Zero Fare for Better Air is back for 2023! From July 1 through August 31, you can ride RTD free of charge.
The goal of the Zero Fare for Better Air initiative is to reduce ground-level ozone by increasing the use of public transportation.
RTD customers will not have to use or purchase fare products from July 1 - August 31. This is made possible by Colorado Senate Bill 22-180. For more information visit the RTD website.

Keep Pets Happy and our City Safe by Not Using Fireworks

Fireworks look fun however, fireworks are illegal within Wheat Ridge city limits and can cause serious injury, destruction, and stress.
For an alternative to popping your own fireworks, you can mark your calendar for the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival fireworks show next month or find professional firework shows in surrounding areas.

Feedback Wanted for Capital Improvement Projects

The City of Wheat Ridge invites you to participate in the second iteration of a survey exploring a potential extension of the current .5 cent sales tax to help fund infrastructure projects residents identified as being a top priority.

This survey helps the city test ballot language, while clarifying exactly how the .5 cent sales tax extension would be used.

Prospect Park Awarded Starburst Award from Colorado Lottery

Wheat Ridge’s Prospect Park received the statewide Starburst Award from the Colorado Lottery for renovations completed between 2017 and 2022. The renovations were done in two phases, totaling over $1.2 million dollars, which was funded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and the Conservation Trust Fund (CTF). The park now hosts two ballfields, six pickleball courts, a football field, two playgrounds, two fishing piers, a 150-person pavilion, restrooms, permanent cornhole boards, horseshoe pits, and improved roads and walkways throughout the park.

Wadsworth Improvements Making Great Progress

Great news! Road improvements along northbound Wadsworth Boulevard from 41st Avenue to I-70 are mostly complete. A major traffic pattern change is expected this month to move northbound traffic onto the new concrete. After the traffic switch, crews will complete storm sewer connections and place temporary pavement in the center of Wadsworth Boulevard. Drivers should also expect frequent traffic pattern changes on 44th Avenue near Wadsworth Boulevard for underground utility work and intersection construction.

Subscribe to receive traffic alerts on the city's website and find updates on What's Up Wheat Ridge. Any community concerns may be directed to the project hotline at 303-390-0878 or email the project team at WadsworthProject@ci.wheatridge.co.us.
