Welcome to 2023! The New Year is a time when we can pause to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments and to look ahead with anticipation and hope for all that is to come. The days are getting longer, we return to a new quarter refreshed, and students are (hopefully) energized and ready to engage. This new year is especially meaningful for me as I have recently accepted the great honor of the Assistant Director position here at the Washington Center, which offers me a unique chance to connect all of my past higher education experience with new opportunities, new things to learn, new people to meet, and new ways to do what I’m most passionate about – supporting authentic, transformative learning experiences for faculty and students.
I’ve already received such a warm welcome to the Evergreen campus that I feel incredibly at home and part of the team. And in case you haven’t heard, there’s an opportunity for you to join our team in the Learning and Teaching Commons! Applications are still open for our 2023-2024 Faculty Scholar. But act fast! The application deadline is February 1st
Building new connections is one of my intentions for 2023, and there are some great events coming up at the Commons where I hope to join my colleagues in doing just that. Please add these dates to your calendar, and I’ll see you there!
Friday, January 27 4-6 p.m. Faculty Game Night! Join in an evening of games, treats, and camaraderie in the Learning and Teaching Commons. (SEM II E3123)
Wednesday, February 1st 5-6 p.m. Welcome Reception. Please come say hello and enjoy some light refreshments at this reception hosted by the Teaching and Learning Commons following the Faculty Meeting.
We are always here to partner with you on projects big or small, and we hope you’ll reach out and let us know how we can support your aspirations, goals, and intentions for this New Year.
Best wishes and Happy New Year!
