What is authenticity? Students, faculty, and staff gathered to discuss this year’s NYU Shanghai Reads selection, Yong Chen’s Chop Suey, USA: The Story of Chinese Food in America. Global China Studies Assistant Professor Ka Lee Wong led the first of several NYU Shanghai Reads events throughout the semester. 

• The IMA Gallery launched an exhibition of student projects at the crossroads of art, technology, and imagination on October 9. The NYU Global Show & Tell lightning talks and exhibition celebrate community and collaboration, inviting students, faculty, and staff in New York and Shanghai to explore fresh ideas, connect with creators, and be inspired by global perspectives.

• IMA Associate Arts Professor Marcela Godoy, Chief Communications Officer Hua Jiang, and Marketing Assistant Professor of Practice Wang Yinghong spoke in a panel discussion for first-generation students on Thursday night. The three are mentors in the First-Generation Mentorship Program and spoke on a wide range of topics including finding support networks and navigating resources.  

NYU Shanghai community members and their families enjoyed a full-day adventure at a local apiary. They explored bee biology, behavior, and sustainable beekeeping in an activity funded by the NYU Office of Sustainability and organized by IMA, CEL, and Marco Sentinelli of Urban Bees Shanghai.
