Moores Member Sandip Patel, MD is a board-certified medical oncologist who specializes in cancer immunotherapy and early-phase clinical trials across all cancer types. His research develops personalized therapies that harness the immune system to target specific tumors. Dr. Patel is Co-Leader of the Moores Solid Tumor Therapeutics Research Program and a key member of the UC San Diego Health Precision Immunotherapy Clinic, which provides access to the most promising investigational immunotherapy treatments for a wide range of cancers.

On August 2, 2025, COE joined California State Assembly Member Dr. LaShae Sharp-Collons at this inaugural event, which engaged approximately 100 community members. COE shared health education and resources to support student wellness and family preparedness for the new school year.

Community Health and Resource Fair |
On August 6, 2025, COE engaged 114 community members and provided free skin checks in partnership with Susan Boiko, MD, a dermatologist affiliated with Rady Children’s Hospital, who screened 11 people at this event. The UCSD, School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, Health Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team also educated community members about the new Mobile Mammography Clinic and future breast cancer screenings.

The Power of Starting HPV Vaccination at Age 9 Webinar

In recognition of California HPV Vaccine Week (August 3–9), this webinar was held to promote initiating HPV vaccination at age 9 for optimal cancer prevention. The webinar featured several members of the SD PATH workgroup and drew over 100 attendees.
