Admission Deadline Jan. 15: Water Policy and Science Communications Graduate Fellow |
The Center for Water Policy is seeking candidates for a two-year funded Water Policy and Science Communications Graduate Student Research Fellowship for fall 2024 through spring 2026. The student must be admitted to UW-Milwaukee's School of Freshwater Sciences master’s degree program, water policy thesis track. Fall semester admission deadline is Jan. 15.

Deadline Feb. 15: Freshwater@UW Summer Scholars |
The Freshwater@UW Summer Research Opportunities Program is accepting applications for 2024. This program provides students with funded research positions with faculty mentors across the state. Housing, food and stipend will be provided to a minimum of 25 students. Projects will take place May 28-Aug. 3, 2024, at UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-La Crosse, UW-Green Bay, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh and Manitowoc, WI.

Paid Summer Research and Internships Through UW Oshkosh |
UW Oshkosh is hiring students for summer research assistant and internship positions. Options include working with EPA, Wisconsin Coastal Management, NOAA, Vilas County Environmental Health Program, or Vilas County Health Department. All positions include a salary of $5,000-$7,000 plus travel and housing. Students from any UW school are encouraged to apply. All positions will be filled by mid-February.

Clean Boats, Clean Waters Summer Internships |
The UW Oshkosh ERIC lab is hiring interns for the Clean Boats Clean Waters Program in Vilas County. Interns inspect watercraft for aquatic invasive species and provide information to boaters about prevention. Interns earn at least $5,000 for the summer plus travel and housing. Students from any UW school are encouraged to apply. All positions will be filled by March 1.

Deadline Dec. 22: Abstracts for AWRA Wisconsin Conference |
The Wisconsin Section of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) is accepting posters and presentations for sessions on hydrogeology, watershed management, hydrology, limnology, aquatic toxicology, water chemistry, aquatic ecology and water use.
Students are encouraged to present. Registration fees offset by the Freshwater Collaborative.

Spring/Summer Courses & Field Experiences |
Deadline Feb. 1: Freshwater Science Field Studies in Western Wisconsin |
May 20 – May 31
Open to any student enrolled in a UW school.
In this immersive course, you will learn field and laboratory skills used to assess freshwater science investigations in geology, biology, geography, and agriculture. Study eutrophication in watersheds, contamination and restoration, and groundwater and surface waters. You will learn from instructors with expertise across a range of disciplines from UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, UW-River Falls, and UW-Oshkosh.

Students from any study discipline and any university encouraged to apply.
Applications are being accepted for summer freshwater research in Mexico, offered through the UW-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences. Enrollment is limited to seven.

Field Sampling and Analysis, Door County and Land O' Lakes |
June 10 – June 21
Open to any student enrolled in a UW school.
This is an exciting 3-credit field and lab experience for students interested in practical and hands-on environmental sampling, experiments and analysis. The course takes place in the incredible Lowenwood campus in Land O’ Lakes and the UW Oshkosh satellite laboratory at Crossroads at Big Creek in Door County.
