Rebuilding Together Day Success!

On Friday, April 25, volunteers from Kynoch Environmental Management, Inc. partnered with Rebuilding Together to make much-needed repairs at one of our community living homes.
The work began in the morning and continued throughout the day, helping to ensure the home remains a safe and comfortable place for the people we support.
Special thanks to Laura-Kate Perez, Community Engagement Manager, for leading the project and to all the volunteers who made this important day a success!

Thank You, Teachers!

Teacher Appreciation Week is almost here (May 4-8), and we want to give a big shoutout to our incredible teachers at KFICCC and After All! Every day, they pour their hearts into making sure our students feel supported, challenged, and loved. We’re so grateful for their hard work, creativity, and the care they bring to every classroom.

$15K Grant Helps to Renovate Activity Room/Gym at KFICCC

The Arc Montgomery County is excited to announce we have been awarded a grant of $15,000 from the Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the Greater Silver Spring Civitan Club! This generous funding will allow us to renovate the Activity Room/Gym at the Karasik and Family Infant & Child Care Center (KFICCC), transforming it into a state-of-the-art inclusive play and activity space.
For years, the Activity Room/Gym has been the heart of our inclusive programming, where children of all abilities develop motor skills, build social connections, receive therapeutic services, and participate in community events like our beloved Toddler Boogie and annual book fair. However, after serving hundreds of children, the space is in need of improvements.
The renovation will include new professional-grade interlocking gym flooring for safety, versatile child-friendly play structures, a multi-configuration Young Explorers Modular Play System, a Caterpillar Tunnel for gross motor development, a Four-Hoop Basketball Stand, and a 72-piece Soft Building Block set to encourage creativity, teamwork, and inclusive play.

Respite Resource & Health Fair Wrap-Up

This year's fair was a huge success! The blend of diverse vendors, nonprofits, Montgomery County government and engaging activities created a meaningful experience for attendees of all ages. Events like this showcase the power of collaboration and highlight how much can be achieved through joint efforts of passionate people, organizations, and sponsors.

The Arc Montgomery County: The Next Generation

April 24 was Take Your Child to Work Day and the kids had a blast. The morning started with fruit, donuts and juice, giving the kids energy to do some dancing and a scavenger hunt throughout headquarters. The theme for the day was "Inclusion" and the children did an arts & craft project that was on theme and were also read the book "Included" by Jayneen Sanders. A special thank you to Shawn Blake from the Communications & Outreach team who spearheaded the day.

Wheelchairs are allowed and there are accessible parking spots. It's recommended to buy tickets ahead of time. They range from $9-$14 and children under 3 are free!
