LLS Professors, Students to Present About First-of-Kind Learning Outcome Initiative on Systemic InequalityLoyola Law School representatives will be speaking later this week at Lat Crit – Resistance and Transformation: Mapping Critical Geographies and Alternative Possibilities in Legal Scholarship and Praxis for the Next 25 Years. Presenters will include Professor Kathleen Kim, Associate Dean for Equity & Inclusion; Professor Eric Miller, Co-Chair LLS Equity & Inclusion Committee, Member of LMU Presidential Black Leadership Advisory Council; student Nikki Osunsanmi, President of Black Law Students Association; and student Beatrice Greenberg, Advocacy Chair of Black Law Students Association. They will discuss Loyola’s first-of-its-kind move on Mandating Critical Legal Education, the fundamental shift in LLS’s curriculum to integrate lessons on the law’s relationship to systemic inequality throughout all required law school courses including all foundational 1L and upper-division courses such as Torts, Contracts, Property, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure, Legal Research & Writing, Constitutional Law, Evidence and Ethical Lawyering. The Faculty Workshop Series continues on Thursday, Oct. 14 with a discussion of Strengthening the Federal Approach to Educational Equity During the Pandemic by Professor Kimberly Robinson, Elizabeth D. and Richard A. Merrill Professor of Law, University of Virginia School of Law. Professor Robinson is an expert on K-20 educational equity, equal opportunity, civil rights and federalism. She is the 2016 recipient of the Steven S. Goldberg Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Education Law. More>>
