Dear District Leader,
We hope that your school year is going well and that you find ways to maintain (or renew!) your energy for speech and debate as 2021 begins to draw to a close. Thank you for your incredible devotion this first semester.  We greatly appreciate your leadership.

District Dates Forms are Due!

Each district chair is responsible for completing the district dates form for their district. Thank you to the 40+ district chairs who have already submitted their forms. While only district chairs may complete the form, they may need to consult with their District Committee to determine the required information! For those who haven’t yet, it's due on or before November 30. This year, we’re asking you to please:
  • Determine district results audit procedures,
  • Determine if your tournament will be fully in-person, partially online, or fully online based agreement of 3/4 of coaches, and
  • Commit to strategies for hosting an equitable tournament.

December Springboard Capstone
African American/Black Coaches Mentoring Program

FREE Tournament: Saturday, December 4 

All schools, regardless of NSDA membership, are invited to attend our online Springboard Series Capstone Tournament for free! Students can compete in unlimited asynchronous speech events and one live speech or debate event at this Saturday-only tournament. We’re also offering hired judging at this capstone tournament.

FREE After-School Scrimmages in 2022

Free, one-round Springboard scrimmages will be offered to students from any school, regardless of NSDA membership, in January, February, and March! Check out the full schedule and save the dates for these exciting opportunities.

Additional National Qualifying Opportunities

Remember that every school that attends the district tournament will have the opportunity to enter up to two non-qualifying students that attended districts in supplemental events at the 2022 National Tournament. These students will have the opportunity to compete in in-person and/or online supplemental events.

Additionally, remind coaches in your district to mark their calendars for May 5-8! We will host a free last-chance National Tournament qualifying opportunity online. Any school that attends the district tournament is eligible to enter non-qualifying students for a second chance to qualify to Nationals in main events! More information will be released by February 1, 2022.

African American/Black Coaching Mentors Needed!

If you identify as an African American/Black coach, we encourage you to participate in our new mentoring program. We are particularly looking for African American/Black coaches who are willing to serve as mentors to other African American/Black coaches who are looking for support. To sign up to participate as either a mentor or mentee, please complete the interest form before November 19.
