ATMIA Canada Newsletter
Dear ATMIA Canada Member,
As we round the corner into December 2018, the world is watching Canada as regulations on legalization of cannabis become fine-tuned. ATMIA is also watching on behalf of its members to understand the impact it may have on their bottom line. As cannabis is provincially regulated, municipalities have the say in where “pot shops” can be located, which may have an impact on existing ISO/IAD Locations.

Although cannabis is almost the number one item in the media these days, ATMIA has been making news within the ATM Operator arena. Just this week, ATMIA published a brand new study of The Independent ATM Deployer (IAD) Market in Canada. (Click here)

Our numbers and strength of working committees continue at a healthy pace. Of particular note is the ATMIA Consortium for Next Gen ATMs which now has over 200 companies worldwide participating in future-proofing project, including 55 banks and FIs. We are proud to be the project manager of this industry-shaping initiative to bring about a new API App model for ATMs.

Plans are well under way for 2019 in the area of conferences, expanding our member base, and bringing more value-added services to our members.

Enjoy the interesting articles in the remainder of this Newsletter edition.

Canada’s Vertical $10 Now in Circulation

Canada’s new $10 bank note was issued into circulation on November 19, 2018.

This new note is being rolled out gradually and will circulate alongside the other $10 polymer notes, including the Canada 150 commemorative note and the Frontiers series $10, until they need to be replaced. As the new regularly circulating $10 bank note, the vertical $10 will be produced by the Bank of Canada for years to come.

The new $10 bank note, with depictions of Viola Desmond and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, acknowledges the past and continuing efforts towards achieving rights and social justice for all Canadians.

The Bank has been working with financial institutions and bank note equipment manufacturers to minimize the impact of this note on the cash-handling industry. The new $10 note maintains the same suite of machine-readable features as the current polymer notes. The note is printed on the same substrate, the large transparent window is in the same position and the same size, and the opaque border of the window is maintained.

ATM Industry Career Center

The new ATM Industry Career Center was launched as planned on Monday, September 10, 2018. Initial activity has been excellent. By the end of the first week we had already seen more than 1,000 page views and 168 unique visitors.

Both job-seekers and employers should keep in mind that there is no cost to set up a profile on the site, and no immediate action is required. Job-seekers may register with the system, remaining confidential if they choose, and upload a resume and other documents at a later time. Tools are also available to control the visibility of personal information, respond to posted positions, and create alerts on newly posted jobs.

The ATM Industry Career Center allows human resource managers to manage job postings, track activity, and create alerts when candidates match specified criteria. Posting rates for ATMIA members start at only $200. Options are also available to be listed as a “Featured Employer”, create a “Featured Job Posting”, attach videos, and recruit through social media.

Job seekers from across the globe are responding. In addition to the USA, resumes have been posted from The Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, India, and Nigeria. This is a career center resource that, like ATMIA, has a truly global reach.
