Hello, first-time readers and faithful followers!
Welcome (back) to What We’ve Learned, aka your favorite newsletter’s favorite newsletter.
🤔 WTF is WWL? We’re an odd publication that’s delivered on even weeks throughout the quarter. Each edition aims to provide important, student-centered updates with (🤞) a refreshing balance of information and fun.
🦠 How it started: At the onset of the COVID pandemmy four years ago (!), WWL rose from the cloth-masked, stay-at-home-sourdough ashes to provide Tritons with timely updates about ever-changing community health and safety policies.
🦋 Current vibe: While we’re focusing much less nowadays on ‘things that rhyme with vaccine’ or antigen-adjacent turns of phrase, our writing style remains pun-heavy and reference-dense, littered with cheeky iconography and try-hard wordplay in equal measure.
🍼 WWL newbie? Check out our historical/hysterical WWL archive and follow us @WWL.ucsd on IG for a non-email newsletter delivery method.
💾 Been around the WWL block before? Hello again, oldbie; we’ve missed you!
As always: enjoy, and be kind to each other. - Ian

After a quiet summer – aside from the construction hammering, that is – our campus’ shared paths are buzzing with activity.
Bustlin’.
Because more folks + more spokes = more accidents, here’s a reminder from Transportation on how wheeled and unwheeled Tritons alike can safely navigate shared paths.
Use it, don’t bruise it.
Keep your brain in tip-top shape by wearing a helmet while cruising campus on bikes, scooters, and skateboards (heck, even unicycles if you’re about that mono-wheel life).
Safety, at any cost.
Lucky for you, that cost is nearly 80% off when you grab a Giro MIPS helmet for $10, courtesy of the Triton Commuter Club.

| That's that you expressive. |
Free expression, open dialogue, and civil debate are critical to understanding differences, advancing knowledge, and discovering truth. And while disagreement and differences of opinion are natural and healthy, we must always remember to treat each other with dignity and respect for others’ points of view – as outlined in our Principles of Community.
We've untangled, on the web.
To help navigate related university policies and guidelines, please reference our Expressive Activities Information webpage and Chancellor Khosla’s Sept. 19 Campus Notice welcoming Tritons to the 2024-25 academic year.

Bussin’.
Use your U-Pass (but don’t move the hyphen) to traverse San Diego at no cost after registering with your @ucsd.edu email address. Learn more via this U-Pass video from MTS.

And forever share your p’s.
If you have a pun or turn-of-phrase that you’d like to see incorporated into the next edition of What We’ve Learned (try to do better than ‘That’s that you expressive’), connect with us via DM on @WWL.ucsd or by sending an email – we love a good collab.

Sessions begin Oct. 3 in the Geisel Meeting Room on the first floor (east side). All levels are welcome, and registration (free for students with a RAP pass!) is required.
Todos somos, somos uno.
Through October, UC San Diego will continue to commemorate Latinx Heritage Month with an exciting lineup of student-centered film screenings, contests, live performances and more.
