Experienced colleagues and peers will discuss the reappointment and promotion process for different types of non-tenure track faculty and provide examples of resources and opportunities for growth and advancement. This workshop will cover a number of topics, including the variability in standards for evaluating research, teaching, service and engaged scholarship by discipline. We will also discuss strategies to identify challenges potentially impacting promotion and ways to navigate them.

Current and past APT Committee members will discuss the different stages of the tenure and promotion review process, components of the dossier and tips and effective strategies to successfully navigate the tenure and promotion process. This workshop is particularly relevant to tenure track assistant professors who are preparing for promotion to associate professor and for associate professors who are preparing for promotion to full professor with tenure. It covers a number of topics, including the standards for evaluating research, teaching, service and engaged scholarship.

Five Duke scholars have been selected for fellowships in the 2025-26 “Institute for Faculty Voice and Collaborative Leadership,” organized by the Ivy+ Faculty Advancement Network.
Throughout the academic year, the Duke cohort will meet with colleagues across Ivy+ institutions to discuss practices and strategies introduced during institute programming. This experience is part of Duke Faculty Advancement’s suite of programs supporting faculty in their teaching, research, service and leadership roles.
