Educator Growth & Development Awards 4 Districts In Pilot Program!
|
ESD 105, Special Olympics National Association, and PESB will be working together over the next year to recruit, inspire, and mentor high school students, particularly those from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds and students of color, to become future leaders in special education. Washington's special education teacher shortage is intertwined with addressing broader equity issues in the education system and emphasizes the importance of diverse leadership in driving special education reform.
As part of this work, our Educator Growth and Development department will help develop new CTE/RWT pathways to explore teaching careers in four identified school districts: Grandview, Selah, Toppenish and West Valley. Our hope is that this local effort helps form students who are passionate about special education, become teachers and stay serving in this high need field within our own region.
We look forward to sharing progress in the coming months.
