Supporting Mental Health
Student Assistance Coordinator Alonna Mitz ’18 appreciates being able to work one-on-one with students in her role with Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services. Mitz helps connect students at Puget Sound with mental and behavioral health providers off campus and also assists them with navigating the complexities of insurance and the health care system. Especially now, as students struggle with COVID-19, isolation, and burnout, she’s glad she can be a resource for Loggers both on and off campus. Outside of work, Mitz enjoys exploring her neighborhood with her dog and finding time for creative pursuits like sewing, composing music, and watercolor painting.

WINTER WEATHER Campus—and much of Western Washington—turned into a snowy wonderland Friday and Saturday, when a winter storm dumped more than a foot of snow in areas around the Puget Sound. Here in Tacoma, we got about 5 to 8 inches, plenty to make campus look like the inside of a snow globe.
