4-H Alumni Spotlight: Reuben Buck
Reuben Buck’s roots run deep in the Tennessee 4-H program. Buck grew up on a rural farm in Robertson County, where his whole family was active in the club, including his mother and father, who met years earlier through 4-H in Montgomery County.
During his time in 4-H, Buck was a State Council Representative (1981), State Council President (1982), elected the District II Big Chief and was named a 4-H All Star. He was part of a delegation that traveled to the National 4-H Congress and won a record-setting number of national awards from the state. He made many trips to Washington, D.C. through 4-H. Additionally, Buck participated in exchange programs in Alberta, Canada and Wisconsin, and visited Purdue University and the University of Arkansas as a State Council Representative. During his college years, Buck and the Red River Boys entertained at State 4-H Congress, State Roundup and the National 4-H Congress in Chicago.
Today, Buck serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee 4-H Foundation. He and his wife Susan reside in Williamson County where Buck volunteers and their daughters participate in the county 4-H program.
Buck’s dedication to the Tennessee 4-H program spans nearly his entire lifetime. His tireless work as a volunteer and through the Tennessee 4-H Foundation makes him an exemplary member of the Tennessee 4-H Alumni.
